Step 1:  Write uppercase and lowercase letters on index cards, one set of letters per card, so it looks like this: Zz for the letter Z. Place the index cards in a circle in random order on the floor.

Step 2:  Play any music that your child likes. Ask your child to walk in a circle around the index cards while the music plays. Stop the music every 15-20 seconds.

Step 3: When the music stops, ask your child to stop on an index card, pick it up and say the letter name and letter sound. If your child is incorrect, ask your child to repeat the letter name and letter sound after you. You might say, “ This is the letter /m/ /m/ Mm. Say it with me!”

Step 1: To make it easier, start with only five to six letters, maybe the letters in your child’s first name. Place five to six index cards in a circle in random order on the floor.

Step 3: To add some challenge, add another skill.  When the music stops, ask your child to stop on an index card, pick it up, say the letter name and letter sound, and to think of a word that starts with that sound. If your child is incorrect, ask your child to repeat the letter name and letter sound after you. You might say, “ This is the letter /m/ /m/ Mm. Say it with me! What is something that begins with /m/? I know - monkey, music and man. ”
